What is Bowen Basin Index?
Bowen Basin Index (BBI) is a Queensland-focused industrial business directory and industry information platform. It helps users discover businesses supporting mining, engineering, construction, fabrication, maintenance, logistics, manufacturing, industrial supply and other specialist services across Queensland.

BBI also publishes Project Watch and regional industry information to help users understand both who operates in the market and what activity is happening around them.
Who is the directory designed for?
BBI is designed for procurement teams, project managers, mining companies, engineers, contractors, asset owners, maintenance teams, construction companies, logistics providers, equipment suppliers, consultants and business owners. Users typically come to BBI to discover suppliers, identify regional capability, research companies and monitor project activity.
Is Bowen Basin Index affiliated with a mining company or government body?
No. Bowen Basin Index operates independently and is not owned by a mining company, engineering contractor, government agency or industry association. The directory is intended to provide broad visibility across Queensland's industrial ecosystem rather than represent one operator or procurement authority.
Which Queensland regions does BBI cover?
BBI covers major mining and industrial regions throughout Queensland, including Mackay & Whitsunday, Isaac Region & Bowen Basin Core, Central Highlands, Gladstone, Rockhampton & Central Coast, Townsville, Brisbane & South East Queensland, Darling Downs & Surat Basin, North West Queensland, Far North Queensland and Wide Bay & Burnett.

Explore Queensland regions →
Is BBI only for businesses physically located in the Bowen Basin?
No. The platform has a Bowen Basin and Central Queensland focus, but directory coverage extends across Queensland. Businesses can be relevant because of their operating location, branch network, service area or capability supporting Queensland mining, industrial and infrastructure work.
What is the best way to find a supplier or contractor?
Start with the main directory when you know a company name, service or keyword. If your requirement is broader, use Browse by Category to explore capabilities or Browse by Region to focus on businesses operating in a particular part of Queensland.
How are businesses organised into categories?
Businesses are organised using industry and capability categories to improve searchability. Major BBI groups include Engineering & Consultancy, Fabrication & Manufacturing, Equipment, Logistics & Hire, Mining & Resource Services, Industrial Supplies, Construction & Civil, and Maintenance & Asset Services, with more detailed subcategories used to describe specialist services.
Can a business appear in more than one category?
Yes. Industrial companies often provide services across several capability areas. A business may therefore appear in multiple relevant categories when its services genuinely span those areas.
Can a business appear in more than one location?
Yes. Many businesses operate across several Queensland regions. Listings may appear in multiple locations where services are actively provided.
What information should I review on a business profile?
A useful profile may include the company description, services and capabilities, business locations, contact information, website, categories, logo and images. The amount of information can vary between profiles, particularly where a listing has not yet been claimed or maintained directly by the business.
Does appearing in search mean the business is suitable for my project?
Not necessarily. Directory search is a discovery tool, not a procurement approval process. Users should independently confirm the business's current capability, availability, licences, registrations, insurance, competencies and project-specific requirements before engagement.
How do I list my business?
Use the List Your Firm page to begin a submission. Businesses can provide information such as company name, contact details, website, description, service categories, operating locations, social profiles, logo, images and capability information. Submitted listings are reviewed before publication.
Is it free to list my business?
Standard business listings are currently available at no cost. Optional premium visibility, advertising or promotional opportunities may be available separately for businesses seeking additional exposure.
Why is my business already listed if I did not submit it?
BBI aims to create broad visibility of Queensland industrial capability. Some profiles may be created using publicly available business information, company websites, industry contributions, public directories or industry research. This allows users to discover relevant suppliers even before every company has actively managed its profile.
Can I claim an existing business listing?
Yes. If your business already appears in the directory, you can request ownership or control of the listing. Once ownership is appropriately verified, management access may be provided so the profile can be maintained directly.

Request help claiming a listing →
What can I update after I control my listing?
Business owners may update information such as contact details, website links, company descriptions, services, categories, operating locations, images and logos. Keeping these details current improves the usefulness of the directory for buyers and project teams.
How long does listing approval take?
Submissions are reviewed as quickly as practical. Approval time can vary depending on submission volume, the information supplied and whether additional checking is required. BBI does not publish a guaranteed approval timeframe.
Can I request correction or removal of my listing?
Yes. Business owners can contact BBI about corrections, modifications or removal requests. Each request is reviewed individually. For the fastest handling, include the existing BBI profile URL and clearly identify the information you want changed.

Email directory support →
What if there are duplicate profiles for the same business?
Contact directory support and include links to each profile you believe is a duplicate. BBI can review the records and determine the appropriate correction. Avoid submitting another new profile when the business is already represented.
What does a Verified listing mean?
A Verified listing indicates that the business has actively confirmed or updated information with Bowen Basin Index. It provides users with an additional signal that the profile has had direct business involvement.
Does Verified mean BBI endorses or certifies the business?
No. Verification does not constitute endorsement, certification or approval of the business, its products, services, licences, safety systems or suitability for a particular project. Buyers remain responsible for their own technical and commercial assessment.
How accurate is information in the directory?
BBI works to maintain accurate and current information wherever practical, but business information can change frequently. Not every listing is maintained directly by the business, and BBI cannot guarantee that every profile is complete or current at all times.
What should I independently verify before engaging a supplier?
Depending on the work, users should verify relevant contact information, service availability, licences, registrations, certifications, insurance, competencies, references, safety requirements, technical capability and commercial suitability before entering into an arrangement.
What should I do if I find incorrect information?
Please report it. BBI welcomes correction requests from business owners, employees and directory users. Include the listing URL, the information that appears incorrect and the corrected details where possible.

Report incorrect listing information →
Where do I sign in to manage my BBI account?
Use the My Account / Sign In page. Account access is used for directory functions made available to registered users and businesses managing profiles.
I cannot access or manage my listing. Who should I contact?
For listing management, account access, profile updates, password issues or technical directory problems, contact support@bbindex.com.au. Include the business name, profile URL and a short description of what is happening.
Can someone else in my company update our listing?
Listing control should be associated with an appropriately authorised business representative. If the correct person needs access changed or transferred, contact directory support so the request can be reviewed.
Do I need an account just to browse the directory?
No account is required simply to browse publicly available directory profiles, categories, locations or Project Watch content. Account functions are relevant when a user needs to submit or manage directory information.
What is Project Watch?
Project Watch is BBI's project and industry intelligence section. It covers relevant activity across Queensland mining, resources, infrastructure, manufacturing, energy, transport and broader industrial development.
Where does Project Watch information come from?
Information may be sourced from government publications, public announcements, ASX releases, company announcements, environmental approvals, public project documents, industry reports and media releases. Sources are referenced wherever practical.
Can I submit a project update, contract award or industry announcement?
Yes. Businesses, organisations and industry stakeholders can submit relevant information about new projects, expansions, contracts, facility upgrades, business developments and industry announcements for consideration.

Submit to news@bbindex.com.au →
Does submitting information guarantee publication?
No. Submitted material may be reviewed for relevance, clarity, supporting information and suitability for the BBI audience before publication.
What information should I include with a Project Watch submission?
Include the project or company name, Queensland location, the key development, announcement date and a public source or supporting material where available. Relevant project images and company contact details can also help BBI assess the submission.
Can Project Watch include advertising or sponsorship?
Advertising and sponsorship opportunities may be available within Project Watch and related BBI sections, depending on availability. Commercial enquiries should be directed to advertising@bbindex.com.au.
What advertising opportunities may be available?
Depending on availability, BBI promotional opportunities may include featured listings, homepage exposure, sponsored content, category or regional placements, Project Watch advertising and other campaign formats.
Is a paid promotion the same as a Verified listing?
No. Verification relates to a business actively confirming or updating profile information. Advertising and promotional exposure are separate commercial services. A promotional placement should not be interpreted as BBI certification or supplier approval.
How do I enquire about advertising?
Visit Advertise with BBI or email advertising@bbindex.com.au. It helps to include your business, campaign objective, audience, Queensland regions of interest and preferred timing.
Can small or regional businesses advertise on BBI?
Advertising enquiries are not limited to large organisations. BBI can discuss available options based on the business, audience and campaign objective. Availability and suitable formats may vary.
How is information submitted to BBI used?
Information submitted to Bowen Basin Index is used for directory and platform purposes. Personal information is managed in accordance with the BBI Privacy Policy.
Can I request removal of my business information?
Yes. Business owners may contact BBI to discuss correction, modification or removal of a business listing. Requests are reviewed individually.
Does BBI guarantee every listing or project update is complete and current?
No. BBI provides directory and informational services and makes reasonable efforts to maintain useful information, but it cannot guarantee the completeness, accuracy or currency of every listing, project update or business profile.
Does BBI recommend that I engage a particular supplier?
No. BBI helps users discover businesses and industry information. Users should independently assess suppliers, contractors, consultants and service providers before entering into commercial arrangements.
Which email address should I use?
Use info@bbindex.com.au for general enquiries, support@bbindex.com.au for directory/account assistance, news@bbindex.com.au for Project Watch and industry submissions, and advertising@bbindex.com.au for commercial promotion enquiries.
