Eva Copper has opened live fuel and power packages as the A$2.3–2.6B build advances.
Harmony’s Eva Copper Project in North West Queensland has moved another step deeper into execution, with live contractor procurement now visible across the mine’s fuel and power infrastructure. Aggreko is seeking priced bids for the design and construction of two new API 650 diesel storage tanks and has also opened an expression of interest for thermal-power-station pump skids.
The packages sit within a much larger greenfield copper development. Harmony approved final investment decision in November 2025 with project capital estimated at A$2.3–2.6 billion. The mine is designed around an approximately 18Mtpa processing rate, an initial 15-year mine life and life-of-mine copper production of about 60,000 tonnes per year, with first production targeted for the second half of 2028.
For suppliers, the immediate signal is specific rather than theoretical: the tank package requires engineering, fabrication, coatings, inspection, field construction, testing and pre-commissioning. The pump-skid EOI creates a parallel opening into the thermal power system supporting the project.

Live procurement has opened around Eva Copper’s fuel and power systems
The clearest fresh development is the release of package TH-CP-05, covering the design and construction of two new diesel storage tanks for the Eva Copper Mine Fuel Supply Terminal. The official ICN Gateway listing states that Aggreko is seeking a formal priced bid from suitably qualified organisations for tanks TK-01 and TK-02.
The scope is substantial enough to span multiple disciplines. It includes design, procurement, fabrication and field construction of two API 650 tanks, together with floors, shells, roofs, internals, nozzles, stairs, platforms, handrails, earthing and associated appurtenances. Protective coating systems, surface preparation, hydrostatic testing, NDT and QA inspection, settlement surveys, pre-commissioning support and preparation of the Manufacturer’s Data Report are also included in the published package description.
A second live opportunity sits alongside it. Aggreko has opened an EOI for pump skids associated with the Eva Copper Thermal Power Station Project. That EOI is explicitly described as a pre-qualification stage, so BBI is treating it as supplier-market engagement rather than a contract award.
The fuel packages plug into a much larger mine-and-power delivery system

Tank fabrication, pump skids and supporting systems sit inside a hybrid power strategy
Harmony’s approved development case describes Eva Copper as a mechanised open-pit operation feeding a conventional processing plant at an average rate of about 18 million tonnes per year. The project is expected to produce roughly 65,000 tonnes of copper annually during its first five years and about 60,000 tonnes per year over the planned mine life, with additional gold production.
Power is a significant project interface. Harmony’s FID announcement described an expected continuous electrical demand of about 72MW and a hybrid generation concept incorporating solar, battery storage and modular diesel generation. Aggreko was subsequently identified by Harmony as the independent power provider.
The current tank RFQ therefore represents more than stand-alone storage. It is part of the enabling infrastructure supporting construction and future mine power, with interfaces across fuel receipt, storage, transfer, controls, electrical systems, foundations, access, inspection and commissioning.
Construction is underway, but federal environmental approvals remain an execution constraint
FID is complete and major construction fronts are active
Harmony approved the Eva Copper FID in November 2025. The company said process-plant construction and non-process infrastructure works commenced during 2026, while Thiess is delivering bulk earthworks, workshop construction and mining services under a strategic alliance agreement.
Thiess values the mining scope of its alliance at approximately A$700 million, with work spanning bulk earthworks, workshop construction and mining services through to 2031. The alliance gives the project a defined mining and civil delivery backbone while separate packages continue to move through Harmony and its delivery partners.
There is, however, an important qualification. Harmony’s FY26 reporting states that broader clearing and construction remain subject to timely federal environmental approvals following identification of a protected Northern Blue-tongued Skink. Work continues on approved fronts, and the original project-capital guidance and H2 2028 first-production target remain unchanged subject to those approvals.

What the tank package tells contractors about the next layer of project demand
The published TH-CP-05 scope provides a useful picture of the execution standard expected on Eva Copper. Successful delivery will need more than vessel fabrication. API 650 compliance, QA documentation, coatings, NDT, hydrotesting, settlement verification and site installation all need to integrate into a controlled mine-project delivery process.
That creates direct relevance for steel fabricators, tank specialists, welding and inspection providers, industrial coating contractors, mechanical installers and heavy-logistics providers. Depending on the final contractor’s delivery model, supporting civil, cranage, access, electrical and commissioning capability may also be required around installation — but BBI is not representing those items as separately tendered packages unless the project releases them.
The thermal-power-station pump-skid EOI similarly points to packaged mechanical systems as an active procurement stream. Typical capability around such equipment can include fabricated skids, pumps, valves, piping, instrumentation, electrical interfaces, testing and commissioning. The current public notice confirms the pump-skid EOI itself; it does not confirm final quantities, suppliers, contract values or award timing.
The commercial significance is the transition from project sanction to supplier execution

Defined packages create a more actionable signal than general project scale alone
Eva Copper has been commercially significant since FID because of its A$2.3–2.6 billion approved capital envelope and long construction schedule. What changes the contractor signal now is the appearance of narrower, executable packages with defined equipment and quality requirements.
For regional and Queensland suppliers, that makes vendor readiness increasingly important: documented fabrication systems, welding procedures, inspection capability, coatings QA, mine-site safety systems, transport planning and evidence of relevant project experience can all become differentiators as packages move from EOI and RFQ stages into award and delivery.
BBI is already tracking the broader Queensland copper pipeline, including previous coverage of Queensland’s copper and critical-minerals project pipeline and the Mount Isa copper industry investment program. Eva Copper is now one of the clearest examples of that pipeline converting into actual contractor work.
