Lendlease says around 90% of subcontractors supporting the project are expected to be sourced from the local region, creating a significant South East Queensland supply-chain opportunity.

Lendlease has been selected by the Queensland Government as preferred contractor for the Redcliffe Hospital Expansion, which Queensland Health now says will deliver 255 new beds.

The Early Contractor Involvement agreement is expected to be finalised during August, while early and enabling works are planned to begin later in 2026.

Queensland Health says the Early Contractor Involvement agreement is expected to be finalised during August 2026.

This means the project has advanced substantially through procurement, while finalisation of the ECI agreement remains the next formal commercial milestone.

ECI gives the contractor and project team an opportunity to develop design, staging, constructability and procurement strategy before the larger building program progresses.

Lendlease says continuity of care, patient safety and day-to-day hospital operations will remain critical throughout delivery.

That means staging, temporary works, access, noise, logistics, services isolation and construction interfaces will require particularly careful management.

A new Clinical Services Building forms the first major stage

Lendlease says the first major stage of the Redcliffe Hospital Expansion will include a new Clinical Services Building.

That first stage is expected to deliver more than 200 new overnight beds, along with expanded maternity, endoscopy and operating-theatre services.

This should be distinguished from Queensland Health’s latest whole-of-expansion figure of 255 new beds.

Following the new Clinical Services Building, Lendlease says the existing hospital building will undergo staged refurbishment.

The main hospital expansion is not the only active construction package at Redcliffe.

A separate project is extending the existing multi-storey carpark by three levels.

Richard Crookes Construction was separately appointed to deliver that carpark project.

Queensland Health’s August update says site establishment and construction works are expected to begin during the month, with completion targeted by the end of 2027.

This package should not be confused with Lendlease’s preferred-contractor role for the main hospital expansion.

Redcliffe now has a main hospital expansion procurement stream led by preferred contractor Lendlease and a separate carpark construction package being delivered by Richard Crookes Construction.

That makes the precinct relevant across a wider construction and supplier base before the main clinical build reaches full activity.
